Carmen, sur tes pas nous nous pressons tous (Seduction scene)

With the local men crawling at her feet, Carmen notices Don José who is busy with his saberpin. She walks up to him, pulls a cassia flower from her blouse and throws it at him. When everybody is gone, the astonished Don José picks up the flower and smells it.

This video does not include the extended fate motif sometimes performed during Carmen's flirtation with Don José. Although Bizet originally composed this part, he removed it during the rehearsals. It is therefore not included in the original vocal score and is also omitted in modern scores of the opera (Didion, Langham Smith).
